Bel Aristo claims first listed success

Since making his racecourse debut in March this year, three-year-old BEL ARISTO has continued to impress with each subsequent run and on Friday, October 1st, the son of New Approach landed a first success at Listed level in taking the Prix Scaramouche (L) at Saint-Cloud.

Owned in partnership by longstanding yard supporter Antoine Gilbert and his breeder Haras d’Haspel, BEL ARISTO is now rated 46 and looks well capable of holding his own at Group level, especially when considering that he was taking on older rivals for the first time. Recording a second consecutive success, following his maiden win at Clairefontaine in August, the colt has been incredibly consistent on the track throughout the year and appears to have benefited substantially from a step up to staying trips.

Given an excellent patient ride by Jockey Stephane Pasquier, BEL ARISTO was settled at the rear of the peloton and travelled with ease. Asked to take closer order while heading down the back straight, the colt headed into the final bend on the heels of the leaders. Shuffled along on entering the straight, BEL ARISTO took a moment to find his stride, but once switched out wide for a run, he stayed on powerfully to the line. Crossing the line of the 2,800m race with over a length to spare from closest rival Good Question, BEL ARISTO highlighted himself as a young stayer on the rise and will be interesting to follow on his next outing.
