A New 2yo Debut Winner
Onesto makes an impression at Chantilly
The well-bred Onesto (Frankel), made a fantastic start to his racing career when taking the Prix de Villebon (newcomers) in fine style at Chantilly on his debut in competition for owners Jean-Pierre-Joseph Dubois, Jean-Etienne Dubois, Ecurie Hunter Valley, Haras d'Etreham, Ecurie Billon, Ecurie Elag and Hubert Guy. His impressive win earned him ‘Rising Star’ status from both the Jour de Galop and the TDN!
The 2-year-old colt jumped well from the stalls and was quite keen in the early stages under jockey Stéphane Pasquier. He then settled at the rear of the field once in the bend in the 1,600m race. Once in the straight, he was switched to the center of the track and, from last position with 450 meters left to run, flew to take the lead with 200 meters left to run. Leaving his rivals standing, he won by 2 ½ lengths.
Bred by Diamond Creek Farm Llc, Onesto was a breeze up graduate from Wavertree Stables at the Ocala Breeze Up in April, where he was bought for $535,000 by Hubert Guy. He is a son of the champion Frankel (Galileo). His second dam, Kalima (Kahyasi), is a full sister to blue hen Hasili.
