2 WINS IN 2 STARTS!
GAGARIN'S MOON makes it two wins
in as many starts
GAGARIN'S MOON (Sea the Moon) remains unbeaten after two starts. This is a result of the three-year-old colt, owned and bred by Rashit Shaykhutdinov, landing the Prix du Rocher Cassepot (Class 2, 1,800m) (9f) at Fontainebleau on Friday. In doing so, he followed up his victorious debut on the Chantilly fibresand on February 4th. Again ridden by Stéphane Pasquier, GAGARIN'S MOON was smartly into his stride and was able to obtain cover
behind SEA CLEVER (Intello). Stéphane Pasquier tried to relax the colt who raced keenly. Despite this, GAGARIN'S MOON proved the proverbial immovable object in the long straight and, on reaching the wire, he had short head to spare over the strong finishing SA'AD (Tamayuz). The latter, a well-regarded colt, had the advantage of two previous run under his belt as a juvenile - in addition to the claim of Olivier d'Andigné.
GAGARIN'S MOON holds entries in the Prix du Jockey-Club and the Grand Prix de Paris (Group 1). So anything is possible!
GAGARIN'S MOON is the third foal of the mare GAGARINA (Galileo): a winner on her debut in the same colours as her son. This augurs well for her two-year-old, by De Treville, who is also in training with Fabrice Chappet! GAGARINA is the sister of the Gr3 Prix La Rochette second ATTIMA (Zafonic).
In the equivalent for fillies, the Prix du Long Rocher, OMNIA MUNDA MUNDIS (Australia) made a good return. This follows the second place of the San Paolo Agri-Stud filly to AMAZONIE (Toronado) - from the yard of Jean-Claude Rouget and who had run during the winter. She confirmed the promise of her winning debut at this track on November 12th.
