1st Prix Praline (Debutantes) – Saint-Cloud

Schikeria (Zarak) was not favoured by the draw, having been assigned stall 12 of 12 in the Prix Praline (Debutantes). However, Ioritz Mendizabal managed this handicap perfectly, allowing the filly to make smooth progress and, by the time they entered the turn, she had settled into an ideal position on the outside of the front-runner, Lycada (Flintshire). The representative of Haras de Saint-Julien and Regula Vannod then showed great determination, pulling ahead all the way up the straight to hold a length and a half advantage over Saganne (Zelzal).

"She’s a beautiful filly, well-bred and well-raised. She didn’t start earlier because she was a bit tricky at the gates, either behind them or once inside. So she went to Nicolas Blondeau, who did an excellent job. Her dam produces very good offspring. Schikeria is by a top-class sire."
