MONUMENTOUS DAY FOR THE TEAM

------------

They say things come in threes and this was certainly the case at Deauville last weekend. Already elated following the demonstration of Good Guess, the Chappet Racing team then celebrated a brace of Listed successes with our talented pair of fillies, Gregarina (De Treville) and Sivka Burka (Siyouni).

A monumental day for the team, but also for Rashit Shaykhutdinov, who not only owns the pair of homebred fillies, Gregarina and Sivka Burka; but also owned Gargarina’s sire De Treville.

An extremely successful breeder, Mr. Shaykhutdinov has enjoyed notable success already this term and has become an extremely loyal and powerful force to the yard.

Massively progressive and trying black-type company for the first time, the superbly bred Sivka Burka (Siyouni) stepped up to Listed level in style by landing the Prix Amadine by a comfortable half a length. Now a winner on three of her seven lifetime starts, Sivka Burka is really starting to carve out a niche over 1400m and maybe be stepped up again in grade next time out.

Professional and tough, the three-year-old broke well from the stalls under Theo Bachelot and was confidently ridden throughout, holding on to score cosily.

With two victories already on the card, it was difficult to get away from the possibility of a stakes race treble and the wonderful Gregarina duly obliged. Already a Listed winner last season and a sister to both Gain It and Gagarin’s Moon, Gregarina was given a completely contrasting ride to Sivka Burka by Bachelot and was dropped on the line to score by a neck, and in doing so the four-year-old tipped the days earnings to over €270,000.

Now a dual Listed winner and Gr.3 placed, Gargarina is an excellent stalwart to the stable and her constitution is a credit to her owner/breeder Mr. Shaykhutdinov. A specialist over 1600m, it will be interesting to see if Gregarina can add a third black-type success to her CV in the coming months.

It not often that such success is enjoyed in a single afternoon of racing and a lot of credit goes to the team at home who do such a great job of preparing our horses for their respective races. This stakes race treble brings the yard to 33 winners for the season, with over €1.6m in prizemoney accumulated.

Well done to all connections
