GREGARINA GETS DESERVED LISTED SUCCESS

------------

It was great to see the Gregarina, a three-year-old daughter of De Treville get a well-deserved Listed success in the Prix de la Cochere at ParisLongchamp on Sunday afternoon. Gregarina’s victory also proved extremely poignant for long-standing yard supporter Rashit Shaykhutdivov, who not only bred the filly, but also saw his colours sported by her sire De Treville throughout his racing career.

Gregarina was courageous in defeat over course and distance at in June, and again when filling the runner-up spot at Tarbes in July, so, it was rewarding to finally see the filly in the winner’s enclosure at Listed level.

Cristian Demuro took the ride on the filly for the first time and despite pulling for her head through the early stages of the race, Gregarina moved through stylishly to dispute the lead into the home straight. Kept honest by her chasing rivals, she went on to score by a length and a half at the line.

Gregarina’s success signed the 40th winner of the season in France for Chappet Racing and the second stakes success of the week for the yard, following Master Gatsby’s Gr.3 win earlier in the week.

With this Listed success offering a nice boost to Gregarina’s pedigree, the team at Chappet Racing are looking forward to what the future holds for the filly, along with her sister, Gain It, who finished fourth in the Gr.3 Prix La Rochette on the same card on Sunday. Gain It remains entered in the Gr.1 Prix Marcel Boussac and also carries the colours of Rashit Shaykhutdivov.
