FILLIES OFF TO A FLYING START
------------
With the season starting to kick into full flow, the Chappet Racing team has been in fine order, especially the fillies, who have been flourishing in recent weeks.
Following a further two winners last weekend, Chappet Racing moves to eight successes for the year, with the yard operating at a 20% strike-rate - one of the highest strike-rates amongst the top end of the trainer’s table.
Carrying the colours of prolific owner Rashit Shaykhutdivov, the three-year-old filly SHE’S COSMIC stepped up markedly on her promising third place debut and showed an impressive turn of foot to break her maiden at Fontainbleau on Friday, March 11th.
Up 300m in trip from her debut, the daughter of Sea The Stars was always prominent throughout the 2,200m contest under a positive ride from jockey Ioritz Mendizabal and scored by two lengths. She’s Cosmic’s dam Kosmische was a Listed winner at Cologne in 2015. Her two-year-old colt by Kingman is also in training with Fabrice Chappet.
ONCE IS A FILLY TO FOLLOW
Narrowly beaten in three maidens towards the backend of 2021, the three-year-old filly ONCE opened her account in good style at Compiegne on Sunday, March 13th.
Bred and owned by long-standing patrons Brendan and Anne-Marie Hayes, the daughter of Tamayuz put up an excellent performance on her seasonal bow at Compiegne. Away from the stalls sharply, Once led from start to finish under Stephane Pasquier, bounding clear to a two-length success.
Following on from the debut success of POURQUOI PAS earlier in the month, the Anne-Marie Hayes / Fabrice Chappet combination now claims a 100% strike-rate this season.
A sister to nine individual winners, including black type performers Scottish and Royal Empire, Once is out of Bikini Babe, herself a half-sister to Zut Alors, the dam of PRECIEUSE who won the Poule d’Essai des Pouliches for Fabrice Chappet and in the colours of Anne-Marie Hayes.
