GATSBY A FUTURE STAYING STAR

------------

It’s a winning return to ParisLongchamp! Antoinette Tamagni’s homebred chestnut colt Master Gatsby (The Grey Gatsby) has been a model of consistency since opening his account at the beginning of the year and this week, the three-year-old launched himself into the elite league of young stayers with an impressive victory in the Gr.3 Prix Gerald de Geoffre (Prix de Lutece) at ParisLongchamp.

Steeping up to 3,000m for the first time, Master Gatsby was given a typically astute ride by Ioritz Mendizabal and was held up last of the six runners, before pouncing with a strong challenge up the centre of the track to score by three quarters of a length.

Carrying the colours of PG Racing Club, who are a group of racing-passionate women spearheaded by Antoinette Tamagni, Master Gatsby has confirmed the belief held in him by Chappet Racing and looks to hold an exciting future in the stayers’ division.

Master Gatsby reversed the form with some of his rivals from earlier in the season and seemed to relish the step up to 3,000m, which bodes well as we head into such an important stage of the season. He holds entries in both the Gr.2 Qatar Prix Chaudenay (3,000m) at ParisLongchamp on October 1st and in the Melbourne Cup (Gr.1 Hcp, 3,200m) at Flemington, Australia on November 1st.
